Website widget
What your customers see when they open the chat on your website.
The widget is the chat on your website. A customer clicks the chat button in the corner of the page to open it. To add it to your site, see Install the widget.
Home and Messages
The widget opens on one of two tabs:
- Home greets the customer and offers Ask a question. It lists their three latest conversations and lets them Search our docs, with your most-linked articles below the search box.
- Messages lists all of the customer's conversations.
Searching docs needs a documentation site connected in Settings › Assistant.
In a conversation
- Under their latest message, the customer sees Delivered, then Seen once a teammate opens the conversation.
- They see typing dots with your first name while you write a reply.
- Each reply shows the teammate's photo and first name. Set yours in Settings › Account.
- Links to your documentation show as article cards.
- The customer can rate each answer from the assistant with a thumbs up or down and add a comment.
Past conversations
The widget remembers a customer's conversations in their browser. To see conversations from another device, or their email conversations, the customer chooses Find past conversations and confirms their email with a 6-digit code. Customers who are signed in to your app can skip the code. See Identified chat.
On phones
On a phone, the open chat fills the screen, and the message box stays above the keyboard.
Your brand
The widget uses your name, accent color, icon, reply time and privacy policy link from Settings › Business › Brand.
